Texas Style Chicken And Dumplings

Ingredients
- 1 chicken, cut in pieces
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can chicken broth
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
- 1/4 teaspoon instant minced onion
- 1/4 teaspoon sage
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/8 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 10 1/2 ounces chicken broth
Recipe
- 1 stew chicken in a large pot, barely covered with water and chicken broth.
- 2 add seasonings.
- 3 make dumplings while chicken is cooking.
- 4 combine all ingredients, adding enough flour to make a soft dough.
- 5 roll out on floured board, cut dough in strips about 1x2 inches.
- 6 remove chicken from from broth.
- 7 combine ingredients for gravy together in a saucepan.
- 8 heat until thickened and add to chicken liquid.
- 9 drop in dumplings while boiling and cook covered 10 to 15 minutes.
- 10 add chicken and serve with cranberry sauce.
